441 is a nifty siteswap that looks very intricate. Similarly to how you learned the 423, the trick to learning 441 is to learn it on your right side, then your left side, and finally string them together back-to-back. Let’s get started.
First, you’re going to learn the trick starting on the right side. Hold two balls in your RH and one in your LH. You start with the “4”, which means that you throw the ball in your RH closer to your fingertips straight to the ground (Image 1). Now, we have another “4” from the left side (Image 2). As the first (green) ball you threw rises, do a short pass (the “1”) from your RH to your LH (Image 3).
Catch all the balls (Image 4-5).
Practice this sequence starting from your right side. Once that feels solid, practice it from your left hand. When you can start from both sides comfortably, move on to step 2.
Now, it’s time to work on doing two sequences back-to-back. Image 6 - 14 shows what this looks like. Note that Image 9 and 13 are not extra beats in the pattern, but I needed to draw a ball being caught. In particular, no balls are being thrown in those images. This brief pause occurs extremely quickly.
Work on getting two sequences back-to-back solid. When you feel ready, try to do more sequences! The ball that’s the “1” will always alternate. In the drawings above, the “1” is the red ball (Image 8) in the first sequence; the purple ball in the second sequence (Image 12); the green ball in the third sequence (not pictured). This order continues as long as you do the pattern. Good luck!
